We have received three small barrels made in Romania that are constructed from mulberry wood. We are going to be aging a New York apple brandy in these barrels, a first in NY state! Mulberry wood is often used for aging plum and pálinka. When we experimented with mulberry sticks, the color imparted is a light yellow, rather than a tan-honey color from oak. The flavor is amazing!
